The Kindness Coalition Presents Evening of Surf Films

Award-winning documentaries about stoke, surf, and legendary lifeguards is coming to the Bay Theatre soon on August 25.

The Estero Bay Kindness Coalition’s annual fundraiser will be an evening of film, music, refreshments, prizes, and more — the proceeds will provide food to families in the community. 

“The event will be a community-centered, sponsored, and supported evening of fun,” said Bobby deLancellotti, founder of the Kindness Coalition. “It’s a unique way for us to fulfill our mission of bringing the community together to serve the under-resourced families of Estero Bay.” 

An Evening of Surf Films takes place at the Bay Theatre in Morro Bay on Sunday, August 25. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The night features local wine, beer, and cider, pizza, concession stand, and amazing prizes, including a Nautilus Surf Co. fish surfboard, two nights at Treebones Resort in Big Sur, John Ramos Art, and more. 

On the big screen is San Diego Film Festival Best Screenplay winner “Big Wave Guardians: First Responders of the Sea” written by former editor of Surfer Magazine Jim Kempton, and x8 award-winning, animated short film “Stoker Machine” starring Chad Cambell, written by Darieus Legg.

The Estero Bay Kindness Coalition is a nonprofit organization serving under-resourced school kids and their families in Cambria, Cayucos, Morro Bay, Baywood, and Los Osos. The Kindness Coalition delivers weekly groceries to over 900 kids and families in the SLO Coastal Unified School District who are at risk of going hungry. They source much of their food from local producers like Cal Poly eggs, FirstFruits Farms, Talley Farms, the SLO Food Bank, Spencers, Ralphs in Los Osos, and Sprouts in SLO.

The Kindness Coalition started in December 2017 and today consists of 2 food programs, acost-free clothing collective, 90+ volunteers, and 2 food pantries. It’s partnered with eight  schools, 41 for-profits, 18 nonprofits, and 10 churches. It currently feeds over 900 people a week in the greater Estero Bay area.
