Morro Bay Recreation Department hosted its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec. 5 at City Park. Dozens of local children and their families turned out to celebrate a visit by Santa Claus and two of his elves. The kids were treated to a performance by the Morro Bay High Dance Team and the kids from the City’s Kids Club gathered into an impromptu choir of sorts to sing a few carols. Then Santa read “The Night Before Christmas” a poem by Clement Moore first published in 1823. The celebrants were treated to hot cider and cocoa and homemade cookies by the Morro Bay Seniors.
