The public is invited to grab their picnic blankets and chairs for an afternoon of enjoyment at the beautiful grounds of the Parr Collective at Stolo Vineyards in Cambria on Sunday, Apr. 27. Twelve of the area’s finest restaurants are planning to provide an outstanding buffet of Mexican food and desserts. The event, designed to help finish raising funds for the highly anticipated Cambria skatepark, is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $55 each.

Live music will be performed from 1 to 2:30 p.m. by singer/songwriter Jesse Strickland, who plays acoustic based music; and from 2:30 to 4 p.m. by Pricey Diggs, who performs an eclectic selection of styles. A raffle with prizes donated by Cambria merchants is also planned.

Parr Collective produces award-winning Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc and Gewurtztraminer wines, according to pacificcoastwinetrail.com. The vineyard will donate 10% of its sales from the event to the skatepark fund.

Set among green rolling hills and surrounded by its nine-acre vineyard, the winery is two miles from Main Street along the scenic Santa Rosa Creek Road. Visitors will find a restored farmhouse, dairy barn and ranch hand quarters, originally built in the late 1800s.

Participating businesses include Black Cat Bistro, French Corner Bakery, Linn’s Restaurant, Madeline’s Restaurant, Mezzo Italiano, Press Quesadilla Grill, Red Moose Cookie Company, Robin’s Restaurant, San Simeon Beach Bar & Grill, Sea Chest Oyster Bar & Grill, and West End Bar & Grill.

Skate Cambria has led a grassroots effort to raise funds for a new skatepark on Main Street adjacent to the Cambria Library since 2020. It started as a group of highly motivated kids, supported by parents and local skaters, who wanted to build a new modern facility after the original one was removed for safety reasons. These amazing kids, who lost something important to them, did something positive about it. They took leading roles and learned critical skills such as how to organize and connect with the community. In fact, their schools recognized the value of their efforts by allowing them to receive credits toward their community service graduation requirements as they helped with fundraising and rallies for the park.

The fundraiser is part of a renewed campaign by Skate Cambria called, “Cap the Gap.” The Cambria Community Services District recently identified an $81,000 – $150,00 shortage of funds for the project due to price increases and unexpected costs.

Tickets for the event are $55 and may be obtained on the winery’s website, parrcollective.com/events. The address is 3776 Santa Rosa Creek Road. Tax deductible donations otherwise may be made directly to Cambria Community Council, the fiscal agent, by check or with PayPal, debit or credit card. The website is cambriacommunitycouncil.org/skate-park-initiative. Checks should have “skatepark” written in the memo section and mailed to P.O. Box 486, Cambria, California 93428.
