Rebecca Campbel

San Luis Obispo County has a new Assistant County Administrative Officer after County Supervisors approved filling the position that just came open with the retirement of the former ACAO.

Guy Savage was the ACAO until his retirement June 30. He was replaced by Rebecca Campbell, who started work June 28, according to a staff report from the boss, CAO Wade Horton.

“This position is vital to the operation of the Administrative Office,” Horton said, “because the Assistant County Administrative Officer assists the County Administrative Officer in the overall administration of County government, including the oversight of an $808 million annual budget.”
Campbell comes to SLO County from Kings County, where she’s worked since 2005. She was the ACOA in Kings County and became the CAO there in 2017.

Campbell has a master’s degree in business administration and served 10 years in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician.
She comes in at Step 5 for the position, and will make $17,265 a month or $207,189 a year plus benefits that bring her total compensation to $304,173 a year.
