Our family is heartbroken to share that our beloved Rose Marie Krantz passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the age of 91. She was surrounded by her loved ones. She was a lifelong prominent, deeply loved, and respected pillar of Morro Bay and Los Osos, and she was, quite simply, amazing!
Rose Marie’s greatest joy was her family. She was a deeply devoted matriarch, embracing her role with unconditional love all the way from mother to grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She spent her entire life looking out for others. For years, she cared for elderly residents at the historic Seashell Retirement Home with love, kindness, and grace.
Alongside her dedicated group of friends in the Central Coast Circle of Friends, she poured her heart into uplifting the community. Together, they made warm blankets for CASA, collected essential food and clothing for the Salvation Army and local food banks, and worked the tables at the Walk for Hunger. Rose Marie was also deeply committed to ensuring her neighbors were cared for, regularly helping feed up to 120 people in need — first at Lila Keiser Park and later at the Vet’s Hall.
As a longtime, cherished face at Morro Shores, Rose Marie was known for her unforgettable coast-side presence and her beautifully fierce independence. She completely adored the raw beauty of our local coast and always reminded us how lucky she was to live there. She will be missed beyond words by our family, her dear friends, and the community she loved so dearly.
Memorial services are pending. In the meantime, our family invites you to hold a fond memory of her the next time you look out across the beautiful bay or Morro Rock.
