Nominations are being taken now for three Los Osos Community Services District seats up for grabs in the Nov. 3 Election.

The nomination period started July 13 and ends Aug. 7, according to information from the County Clerk’s Office.

There are three seats up for election this time — Areas 1, 2 and 4. But if any of the incumbents does not file by Aug. 9, the deadline for that district would be extended to 5 p.m. Aug. 12.

And if past elections are repeated and no one from any of the Areas applies to run, the new board would take applications for nomination to the seat and pick someone to serve the term. That would likely happen after New Year’s.

That’s an issue the District has dealt with in the past after it switched to District Elections from a communitywide vote for all candidates.

Current office holders are: Christine Womack, Area 4; Chuck Cesena, Area 1; and Board President Matthew Fourcroy, Area 2. Director terms end in December.

The other two Directors not up for re-election this time are: Tom Cross, Area 3; and Richard Hubbard, Area 5.

Qualifications are pretty simple. You have to be a registered voter (at least 18-years old), be a District resident, and live within the Area you want to represent.

Information about running for office is available on the LOCSD website, see: www.losososcsd.org and scroll down to the Public Notice link.
