A beloved community tradition returns this fall as the 47th Annual Oktoberfest brings a full day of food, music, family activities, classic cars and community spirit to Downtown Baywood Park.
The celebration takes place Sunday, October 25, on 2nd Street in Downtown Baywood Park, offering something for visitors of all ages. The annual event will feature a Classic Car Show, Biergarten, community Fun Run, Kids Zone, vendor booths, food and refreshments, live entertainment and more.
“We are excited to celebrate 47 years of Oktoberfest and bring our community together for a day of fun, fellowship and tradition,” said Annie Wahler, Oktoberfest co-chair. “Whether you’re coming for the cars, the food, the entertainment or the family activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Classic Cars, Food and Family Fun
Car enthusiasts will have plenty to see at the popular Classic Car Show, featuring an impressive collection of classic, vintage and custom vehicles. Awards recognizing participating vehicles will be presented during the afternoon.
For adults, the Biergarten will provide a festive gathering place featuring refreshments, entertainment and the traditional Oktoberfest atmosphere.
The day gets an early start with the community Fun Run, at 9 a.m. by the Pier, presented by the Morro Bay High School Athletic Booster Club. The event encourages participants of all ages to get active while supporting local students and joining in the day’s festivities.
Families can also head to the Kids Zone open from 12 to 4pm, where children can enjoy games, activities and attractions throughout the celebration.
Local businesses, artisans and community organizations will fill Downtown Baywood Park, giving visitors an opportunity to browse an assortment of products, crafts, food and services while supporting local entrepreneurs and community organizations.
New Community Stage Debuts
Organizers are introducing several new features for the 47th annual celebration, including the Community Stage, located at the pier end of 2nd Street.
The Community Stage will showcase local talent and community entertainment throughout the day, featuring local performers, organizations and presenters. The stage will give community groups an opportunity to share what they do and showcase the unique talents, traditions and activities that make the community special.
New Oktobertaste Challenge
Another new attraction this year is the Oktobertaste Challenge, giving five lucky participants the opportunity to take part in a blind beer-flight tasting featuring samples from all eight participating breweries.
Participants will taste the beers without knowing which brewery each sample represents before sharing their opinions about their favorites.
Organizers emphasize that the Oktobertaste Challenge is not a competition. Instead, it is designed as a lighthearted opportunity for participants to compare personal tastes and preferences while sampling offerings from the participating breweries.
Start the Day with a Biergarten Morning Party
The festivities will kick off with a Biergarten Morning Party from 9 to 10:30 a.m., featuring music by Funk Junket.
The first 100 guests will receive a free half-dozen mini donuts donated by Sugar Lips. “Grab your crew, come hungry and start your morning with us!”
Main Stage Entertainment
Live music and entertainment will continue throughout the day on the Main Stage, with a full schedule of performances and activities:
• Biergarten Morning Party with Funk Junket — 9 to 10:30 a.m.
• Oktobertaste — 11 to 11:45 a.m.
• B & The Hive — Noon to 2 p.m.
• Costume Contest and Car Show Awards — 2 to 3 p.m.
• Santa Cruz Family Band — 3:30 to 5 p.m.
With activities taking place throughout the day, organizers are encouraging residents and visitors to make Oktoberfest a full-day community outing.
From classic cars and live music to food, family activities, local vendors and community organizations, the 47th Annual Oktoberfest offers another opportunity for residents and visitors to come together and celebrate one of Baywood Park’s longest-running traditions.
