Welcome Home, Engine 16

Cayucos’ Estero Bay Fire Station 16 welcomed its newest fire engine, Engine 16,  on Monday. The ceremonial “push-in” references a necessary working procedure from the 1800s. Fire fighters from that era had to unhitch the horse-drawn engine and manually push the rigs into the station because the horses couldn’t back up.

Firefighters, residents, local lifeguards and the Junior Guards participated in the ceremony which was led by Station Captain Vic Carrillo.
