Canzona Women’s Ensemble will hold auditions for their fall concert, Winter Reverie, on August 20 in San Luis Obispo and August 22 in
Shell Beach. The ensemble seeks enthusiastic singers with previous choral experience who share a deep passion for music and community.
Auditions are open to women with previous choral experience who are eager to showcase their vocal abilities. Canzona Women’s Ensemble is specifically looking for individuals who possess a strong sense of musicality, dedication, and a desire to contribute to the ensemble’s success.
Auditions consist of a prepared solo piece of the singer’s choice, some sight-reading exercises, and vocal range exploration.

The Coastal Discovery Center, located at William Randolph Hearst Memorial Beach in San Simeon, CA is seeking volunteers to support their mission of education, research, and resource protection. As a volunteer docent, you will receive a comprehensive training about the sanctuary, greet visitors, interpret exhibits, tell the public about the incredible sanctuary stories, and assist with K-12 school programs. No experience is necessary; we provide training on sanctuary research, resource protection, and how you can have a part in protecting this incredible ecosystem. “If you don’t think you can, think again.” Jane Granskog says this and believes it. Join Volumes of Pleasure bookstore in Los Osos on August 15 at 1 p.m., in welcoming Jane for a selected reading, discussion, and signing of her autobiography, “Ironwoman: Reclaiming my Spirit in Midlife.”
Jane will share her experiences navigating midlife and the means she found for reconnecting with her truest self.
Jane has always been an achiever. After pursuing an academic career for 38 years — attaining a Ph.D., teaching cultural anthropology at CSU Bakersfield, and researching indigenous Mexican tribal spiritual and shamanic practices — she expanded her life experience through writing poetry and discovering endurance sports to gain a greater self-understanding.
At forty-one, Jane entered and completed the Hawaiian Ironman — a grueling test of physical, emotional, and mental endurance. Though the experience was not about overcoming herself, it was a tool— as one observer wrote — “to reclaim the wild, authentic self she had buried beneath expectations, responsibilities, and the cultural conditioning placed on women.”

Tamiazzo’s vocation is providing food and sanitation services to the homeless of Santa Barbara, CA. His professional background inspires a unique and dynamic approach to creating life-changing workshops, and personal transformations. His career in community mental health began in Calabasas Neuropsychiatric Institute when he was 24 years old. Within four months, the medical director promoted him to director of his 80-bed facility. He went on to be the director at three more psychiatric hospitals and two brain injury centers. Along the way he has learned enough about relationships to write two books and conduct several seminars. His first book, “Love & Be Loved,” was based on his early workshops. He wanted to reach a wider audience than workshops provided to help as many souls as possible recreate themselves.
“Returning to the Land of OZ – Finding Hope, Love and Courage on Your Yellow Brick Road,” notes that L. Frank Baum’s literary work and screenplay “is not just a charming children’s book or a highly entertaining film. Within the story line of this seemingly simple tale, Baum gave us one of the greatest resources for personal transformation ever written.”
