The Cambria Fire Department, along with several local agencies in SLO County, participated in the 32nd annual Burn Relay, visiting 16 Central Coast schools and raising more than $10,000 for the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. The non-profit organization provides burn prevention education and support programs for burn survivors across California.

Firefighters from Cambria, San Miguel, Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, Santa Margarita, Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, Five Cities, and CAL FIRE all contributed to the day’s success, uniting for a common cause. Together, these departments worked to not only raise funds but also spread awareness about fire safety and the vital services they provide to the community.

The relay raised $10,250 in donations, which will support the foundation’s burn education programs, as well as camps and retreats for young burn survivors. Thousands of children in SLO County had the opportunity to learn valuable safety information throughout the day, with the relay concluding at the San Luis Obispo Farmer’s Market.
