A local business spearheaded efforts for a free service to get ahead of a predicted strong El Niño season as well as possible coastal flooding from King Tides.
Free sandbags are available for pickup and delivery to residents thanks to a joint effort by Fixxa, Central Coast Landscaping Products, Miners Ace Hardware, and Goofy Graphics. Residents can pick up free sandbags at the Fixxa shop, 3250 Main St. in Morro Bay. The sand is donated by Central Coast Landscape Products, and the new bags are co-branded with the company in recognition of the donation. More than 1600 bags have been given away so far.
Levi Johnson, the owner of Fixxa, a licensed and insured contractor and home repair company in Morro Bay, came up with the idea to offer free sandbags. During flood season, Fixxa will also deliver and place sandbags for local businesses and organizations at no charge.

“During the last floods, the community was caught unprepared, many homes and businesses were destroyed, lives were lost,” he told Estero Bay News. “As a community leader, I feel it’s my duty to dedicate my resources and energy to helping the community when it’s most in danger. I hope Fixxa is available to assist anytime there is a natural disaster.”
Shovels will be available onsite to fill the bags and bring home. Delivery is a cool convenience, but readers should know that it is better to be prepared before Fixxa is inundated with drop-off requests.
“I hope people don’t abuse the system, but if we run out, I hope to get more,” Johnson said. “Central Coast Landscaping is providing sand, and we’re paying for delivery, and Miners is supplying 100 sandbags! We’ve purchased 2000 ourselves, and Goofy Graphics is providing some banners.”
Readers can request sandbag delivery via www.getafixxa.com or download their iOS app. Additionally, people can call or text 805-471-0791 but “we receive so many calls I prefer to guide people to our app,” Johnson said.
As a business, Fixxa connects property owners with licensed contractors and service technicians. Incorporated in January 2025, they provide general contracting services including remodels, new construction, ADU’s, handy services, full-scale plumbing, electrical, garage doors, concrete, hauling, cleaning, and soon, HVAC. They also handle property management, HOA management. In a little less than a year, more than 3000 projects were completed.
“Fixxa represents the future of construction and services,” Johnson said. “We are an all-in-one platform offering in-house services. There is no company like Fixxa on planet earth; I’ve looked all over. The goal of Fixxa is to create an amazing experience for our community, including both clients and tradespeople. We handle the marketing, reception, quoting, scheduling, invoicing, and financing; contractors are simply assigned work to complete. They get their evenings back, their weekends.”
Not only is it a one stop shop for all sorts of repairs, Fixxa is the responsible party for the projects.
“We take full ownership of the projects,” Johnson said meaning no tracking down a litany of repair businesses if something goes wrong.
In addition to the Morro Bay Location, Fixxa has a shop in SLO at 274 Buchon St. and they are opening another in Los Osos in the Ralph’s shopping area later this month.
“My goal is to have a shop in every city in the US, where we will provide supplies/tools for our Fixxa technicians, and the public,” Johnson said. “Our first year we did $1 million in revenue, and year two we’re on track for $3 or $4 million.”
The contribution to the community doesn’t stop with sandbags. Every month, the business donates 40 hours of skilled labor to community projects at no charge. They have been a part of community development projects for schools, parks, and those that cannot afford handy services but need them.
“We assisted with repairing the Cayucos skatepark, helped a church in MB turf their toddler zone, installed benches for free in Del Mar dog park, and set up play equipment for Cayucos Elementary School. Countless residents have also received free services. My goal is to take 5% of all Fixxa proceeds and disperse them back to the public through free services. If someone needs help, I never want to turn them away.”
Although their first location is in Morro Bay, the company has operations in locations across the US with the hopes of going global.
“Utilizing AI and our tech platform, we can manage any project globally, similar to how Uber can do a taxi ride globally,” Johnson said.
