Daniel “Danny” Michael Bautista, age 28, passed away suddenly on January 21, 2025. Danny was born April 28, 1996, in Hayward, CA to his parents Anne-Marie and Michael Bautista.

In his short life, Danny lived in several places including Morgan Hill, San Jose, Los Banos, Arizona, and Sacramento before finally settling down in his dream destination here on the Central Coast.

For work, Danny was a tradesman. He worked in welding, auto mechanics, HVAC, and

plumbing. He was truly committed to learning all aspects of construction and had planned to create his own construction company as a general contractor.

In his spare time, he enjoyed many hobbies including dirt biking, skateboarding, art, and his most treasured surfing. He spent years watching videos, studying, and traveling to the coast to truly master the art of the surf. He respected the ocean and all life forms that called it home. He was most at peace when he paddled out and was embraced by a beautiful sunset. He even had expressed interest in studying marine biology and coral reef restoration.

Danny moved from Sacramento to San Luis Obispo in October 2023 to surf and weld. His fiancé, Joey, joined him here in 2024 and they worked together as the new owners of Beach Hut Deli, Los Osos.

Danny was enrolled at Cuesta College for the Spring 2025 semester to obtain a

degree so he could further his dreams of becoming his own boss.

A kind soul to anyone who knew him, Danny was the type to give the shirt off his back to

someone who needed it more than him. He would regularly meet random people in town and invite them to the deli for a meal (on his tab). Once he had them hooked on the sandwiches, he would sit, talk and laugh with them. He created such a welcoming and warm environment. He made friends wherever he went and did anything he could to put a smile on people’s faces.

Danny is preceded in death by his Grandma Pat, Grandma Norma, Grandpa John and best friend Ty Chaput. He leaves behind his mother Anne-Marie Bautista, father Michael Bautista, step mother Tiffany, sisters Cassie and Michelle Bautista, brother-in-law Kody and step siblings AJ, Albert, and Phoebe. His Papa Ben, Papa Manuel, Grandma Pam. Also his 5 uncles (Rob, Stephen, John, Mike, Ernie), 6 aunts (Melissa, Susan, Shelly, Sheryl, Araceli, Angelina), and 9 cousins (Ashley, Brittani, Jordin, Justin, Taylor, Caydence, Becca, Israel, Lalo).

To my sweet bub, my best friend- it was absolutely the highest honor to love you and be loved by you. I will miss you terribly, but I promise to live for you and do everything we had planned to do. I will take your kindness, loyalty and heart with me wherever I go. Most importantly, I will continue to surf, forever wishing for just one more wave with you. Love, Joey.

There will be a memorial paddle out/spreading of ashes for Danny on March 8 at 11 a.m. at Pismo Beach on the south side of the pier (meet in the Addie St Parking lot). Afterward, the family will host a reception at 1 p.m. at Beach Hut Deli (1240 Los Osos Valley Rd next to Ralphs). Anyone who knows and loves Danny is welcome to attend one or both events. The deli will be closed to the general public on this day and will re-open for normal hours on Sunday, March 9.
