Surrounded by her adoring family, Donna Ramos danced her way through the gates of Heaven on September 9, 2026; she was 90.
Born May 23, 1936 in Goleta, CA, Donna spent her childhood in Bakersfield, CA, with her parents, Walter Shaw and Helen (Henderson) Shaw, and siblings, Jackie, Walter, Donald and Robert, graduating from East Bakersfield High School in 1954. Three years later, in 1957, she married Gerald H. Ramos and together, they would spend their lives raising a family and embedding themselves in the community of Morro Bay, including her 31-year career at the City.
A deeply caring person known for her unbridled spirit, witty sense of humor, and a hug that could make anything better, Donna was love in action. She embodied authenticity and creativity; she painted, gardened, played music and danced; and she saw the beauty in everything — and in doing so, became a beacon of light for those around her finding their own way. She placed her family and friends at the center of her life, always encouraging them to explore their own creativity and find their authentic voice. She was the grandma in the stands, always making it clear which grandchild was hers. She never met a stranger, and anyone in her sphere became an honorary family member.
To her family, Donna was the hub, the safe place, and where you were loved for exactly who you were. She will be deeply missed, but her beautiful soul will carry on through her children; Terri Lewis (Jimmy) and Joe Ramos (Paige); grandchildren; Brooke (Jason), Cameron (Oliver), Ciara (Chris), Hunter, Tia (Nicky) and Joseph (Riley); and, great-grandchildren; Pierson, Deven, Copeland, Rylee, Eames, Greyson, Beckham, Alden and Cara.
The family will gather for a private celebration of life. Any charitable donations would be greatly appreciated by St. Jude.
