Gary Allen Winch, aged 79, passed away on November 17, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Gary was born on November 23, 1944 in St. Paul, MN; his family moved to CA in 1956 where he grew up in Sacramento; then living in the Morro Bay area from early adulthood till his death.  He graduated from Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, then joined the Air Force and served four years.  After leaving the Air Force, he had a Shell Station in Morro Bay for many years, had a towing service, worked as head custodian for Morro Bay High School, and did maintenance for a car wash in Morro Bay. Throughout his working years, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others — he was small in stature but big in heart.  He was happiest when he was working and just couldn’t sit still.

Gary is survived by his son Rodney, and pre-deceased in death by his wife, Carol; parents Marcella Minning and Donald Winch; and brother, Dennis Winch.  He is survived by eight siblings, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be scheduled in the spring.
