Judith Ann Bertonneau 1940-2024

Judith was born to George and Caroline Hall of Morro Bay, California on October 13,1940. She attended Mills College in Oakland, California where she studied psychology and elementary education. She worked for several years in various schools in Los Angeles and San Diego, California before devoting herself as a full-time mother to her children and a full time Navy wife. Subsequently traveling to various US locations in California, New York, South Dakota, Virginia and Washington D.C. as her husband, George Bertonneau, was stationed during his career.

Upon her his retirement from the Navy, she divided every year between Morro Bay, California and Brant Lake, New York.

Judith spent several decades of summers in Upstate New York in Schroon Lake and Brant Lake raising her children and participating in social and recreational activities in the Adirondacks.

Judith’s later years in Morro Bay, were spent as a docent, doing nature presentations for the organization Friends of the Elephant Seals. Additionally, she volunteered to give monarch butterfly tours and made food bimonthly for the homeless of San Luis Obispo County. She also spent treasured time with friends in the San Luis Obispo area.

Judith is survived by her son Geoffrey S. Bertonneau of Erie, Colorado and her daughter Adrienne E. Bertonneau of San Diego, California. She was a beloved Navy wife to her husband, the late, Captain George A. Bertonneau. Judith was also a devoted and loving grandmother to Alexander and Sophia Bertonneau.

Judy was a force of life who always led with compassion and a warm smile for everyone. Her passing will leave a void that her children and grandchildren will fill in the spirit of Judy with their own grace and warmth for others.
