Mary Frances (Tanny) Koeppel passed into Heaven to be with her beloved dogs on February 18, 2026, in Los Osos, the hometown she loved.
Born in Lakewood, OH, on June 30, 1944, to Harry Kendall Koeppel and Mildred Faye Ratliff Koeppel. She graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1962 in Oklahoma City, OK, attended colleges in Lexington, KY, New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX and graduated with a master’s degree as a licensed clinical social worker from Oklahoma State University.
She was a Colonel in the Army Reserve and an avid golfer — even achieving a hole-in-one in California where she lived since 1972. She also liked to garden, travel, and watch sports. At one time she was chief of police in Oklahoma City for a Day!
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane Parsons (Dan) Sacramento, CA; and niece, Patti Plant Phillips , Oklahoma City, OK; and the dogs she loved with all of her heart: Scotch, Misty, Brandy, Chelsea, Sophie, Ali, Bea and Sancha.
Leaving to miss her are the rest of her family: sister Beth Koeppel Plant (Randy); nephew Tony (Kathy) Plant and their sons Luke and Michael, Preston Henry; nephews Andy (Kara) Parsons and their children Nate and Amy; and Darrell (Julie) Parsons and their children Ella and Kendall, plus many friends in Los Osos.
Memorial services will be held on April 27, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Dairy Creek Marcerro Restaurant in SLO.
You were a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many and loved more than you know! We’ll see you in Heaven — what a reunion it will be!
