A long-standing Cayucos tradition continues to give back. The Rotary Club of Cayucos welcomed 158 community members to its annual Labor Day Pancake Breakfast, raising $1,700 in donations for the Harvest Food Bag Program through Cayucos Community Church.

The annual breakfast is about more than pancakes; It is a tradition of neighbors coming together to support neighbors and an example of Cayucos Rotary’s commitment to ensuring funds raised through its community events make a meaningful difference locally.

“Rotary is about service, but in a small community like Cayucos, it is also about being part of the fabric of the community,” said Cayucos Rotary President Jen Gaviola. “The Pancake Breakfast showed once again what can happen when our community comes together. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, volunteered, and donated so generously.”

The Harvest Food Bag Program helps provide food to local children and families in need. The $1,700 raised at this year’s breakfast will go directly toward supporting the program and its work in the community.

Cayucos Rotary extends a special thank-you to Cayucos Community Church for generously providing the facility and helping make the annual breakfast possible.

The club also recognizes Duckie’s(Cayucos)/Dorn’s (Morro Bay) Restaurants for its generous donation of the pancake mix, sausage, and fruit served at the breakfast. Their support allowed community donations to have an even greater impact for the Harvest Food Bag Program.

Cayucos Rotary is also grateful to Morro Bay Rotarians Dan and Linda Costly for volunteering their time and helping make the morning a success. Their participation reflected the spirit of Rotary and the strength of neighboring clubs working together in service.

“What makes the Pancake Breakfast so special is that it combines fellowship with a direct benefit to local families,” Gaviola said. “People come together, share breakfast, reconnect with neighbors and friends, and know that their donations are going right back into helping our community.”

Throughout the year, Cayucos Rotary continues this tradition of service by supporting local students and educational programs, scholarships and youth activities, veterans, families in need, community organizations, and other charitable causes.

For generations, Cayucos has been a community where neighbors step up for neighbors. Through traditions like the annual Pancake Breakfast, Cayucos Rotary is proud to help carry that spirit forward.

“Cayucos may be a small town, but it has an incredibly big heart,” Gaviola said. “We are proud to continue this tradition and grateful to every person and organization that helps us turn community support into community impact. We really are better together.”
