If you need a new bike, the Sheriff’s Department is having an auction to benefit its Christmas Kids Bike Program.
The department has 20 adult-sized bikes that were donated by the public and have been refurbished by inmates at the County Honor Farm, who also work on the Christmas Bike Giveaway Program.
Honor Farm inmates learn to work on donated bikes making them like new with new parts all around. The bikes are then given away to area children whose parents have applied to the program or local law enforcement officers have identified as needing a bike.
The bikes being auctioned look from the poster to be multi-speed mountain bikes (fat tires), with men’s and women’s models.
Sale terms are cash or credit card at time of purchase.
The auction is set for Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the County Honor Farm, 880 Oklahoma Ave. The Honor Farm is located off Hwy 1 at Kansas Avenue. Take the first left off the highway onto Oklahoma Avenue and the Honor Farm is on the left hand side.
