Thousands of spectators lined the waterfront Oct. 24 for the Annual Morro Bay Witch’s Paddle and despite there being a pretty strong wind whipping up the Bay, all of the witches and warlocks made it out of the water safe if not entirely sound. Harbor Patrol did have to pull a few wet witches safely out of the water, further dispelling the myth of water melting witches. The wind did make it a somewhat shortened event, as anyone who’s ever paddled or kayaked in the bay can attest, when the wind comes up, it’s time to head for shore. The popularity of the event showed as traffic backed up on Beach Street all the way to Main Street with people trying to drive down to the Embarcadero to watch the annual celebration of sisterhood and Halloween.
