Cambria Center for the Arts Theatre is excited to be opening its doors for the first time since March of 2020. And, they are doing it in a big way. CCAT presents guest artist, Savannah Fuentes and her tour of “Flores de Verano, Flamenco en Vivo.” Joining Savannah will be flamenco guitarist and singer, Diego Amador, Jr. This vibrant, exuberant evening begins at 7 p.m. on July 17.
Savannah is touring this show along the entire Pacific Coast and making this one-night stop in Cambria. Hailing from Seattle, Savannah has produced over 300 performances since being exposed to flamenco on television as a child.
“I took to it immediately,” said Savannah. “It has been my lifelong study and passion.”
Providing the music and vocals is Diego Amador, Jr., a flamenco guitarist and son of the world-renowned pianist, Diego Amador. The elder Amador, from Seville, formed the popular band, Pata Negra with his family. In Spain, the Amador family is considered “royalty.” Diego is also an accomplished percussionist and pianist as well. He just released his first album in June of this year, “Presente en el Tiempo.”
Tickets for this one-night only performance are selling quickly. They are $25 and available at the CCAT website, Cambriaarts.org. Seats are reserved and limited due to social distancing. Tickets will only be available at the door, if there is space, so order now. CCAT requests that you purchase tickets online, prior to the performance. The show begins at 7 p.m.
The staff and volunteers at CCAT will maintain strict protocols, will remain masked, and all have been vaccinated. Masking for audience will be voluntary, yet they encourage guests to do what makes them comfortable.
This night of flamenco is the first in a series of concerts at CCAT. August 14, they will present an evening with Brynn Albanese along with Jody Mulgrew. And on September 12, they welcome Dirty Cello. Details and tickets are on the website. Tickets for both of these events are $25 and are on sale now. In October, CCAT presents their first full production of the year, “Cambria the Musical,” opening October 8. This show was just weeks from opening when the pandemic shut down the theatre. It is an original work, written by local Cambrian, Ed Hughes, and is based on a true story about the town’s history.
