Central Coast Writers’ Conference Welcomes New Director

The Cuesta College Central Coast Writers’ Conference (CCWC), recognized as the “Best Conference in the West” by “The Writer” magazine, returns September 26 and 27 with a new director at its helm. 

Wes Martin, Director of Community Programs and Continuing Education for Cuesta College, expressed his enthusiasm when announcing local writer Meagan Friberg as the new CCWC Director. “Meagan’s professional experience as ‘a writer and event planner, along with her welcoming disposition and fresh ideas, will help ensure a meaningful, inclusive experience for attendees,” Martin said.

Sharing the event’s theme of “It’s Time,” CCWC’s Friberg, aims to empower writers at every stage to achieve their goals. She is an experienced journalist who has served as a key conference volunteer for over a decade. She holds degrees in journalism and mass communication and is a former newspaper reporter and magazine editor who’s been published in numerous magazines, newspapers and online sites. 

“I’m excited to bring together talented professionals from the writing and business community,” Friberg said. “With the help of our dedicated volunteers and top-tier speakers, we’re creating a diverse lineup of keynotes, workshops, panels, masterclasses, and networking opportunities.” 

Super Early Bird tickets are currently available for $200 through April 30 at CentralCoastWritersConference.com. Options to participate in Master Classes, and book personal “Pitch and Critique” appointments for an additional cost will be added to the site soon, as well as information on scholarship opportunities.

The Friday Opening Keynote speaker is Brooke Warner, publisher of She Writes Press and SparkPress and an award-winning writing coach. She is the author of “Write On, Sisters!,” “Green-light Your Book,” “What’s Your Book?”and three books on memoir. She’s a TEDx speaker, weekly podcaster (of “Write-minded” with co-host Grant Faulkner of NaNoWriMo), publishes a weekly newsletter, Writerly Things, on Substack, and is a columnist for “Publishers Weekly.”

“Brooke Warner is a leader in the industry, a natural motivator, and a strong advocate for writers. Her expertise and passion will set the stage for an inspiring conference,” Friberg said.
