A local woman recently had 100 reasons to celebrate.

Mary Perry long-time resident of Cayucos and Morro Bay turned 100 years young on June 8. She celebrated with family and friends.

Mary’s granddaughter Rosie Daniels, said the centenarian still stays active caring for her outside flowers, house plants and occasionally playing Bingo. She also enjoys spending time with her three children, Emilie Platz, John Perry and Mary Evans, her six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mary told Estero Bay News that her secret to longevity is eating healthy and staying active. She considers the telephone and indoor plumbing the greatest inventions in her time because “they no longer had to go outside and use the outhouse.”
