Beware! Lions are on the hunt in Cayucos—lost antelopes and zebras are safe, but graffiti is not.

Once a week, Cayucos Lions Club members Phil Kiesewetter and Mark Miller cruise through town on bikes carrying a crate of tools and materials to remove unwanted spray paint and such from street posts, buildings, and signs.

“It is a great way to socialize with other people in town and do something good for our community,” said Kiesewetter. “

Anyone interesting in joining cleanup efforts is asked to call Phil at 805-900-5208.

The Cayucos Lions Club formed in 1948 becoming part of a worldwide organization with the motto “We Serve.” The small beach town boasts 90 club members. Traditionally, the club organizes, manages and hosts the annual Independence Day Parade, Pancake Breakfast and BBQ. Unfortunately, all events were canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They also conduct a once a month highway pickup, free eyes exams for students at Cayucos Grammar School and every December they give toys or contribute money to a gift fund to help children in the community during the Christmas holiday season.

The Cayucos Lions Club meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Hall, 10 Cayucos Dr. To find out more, go to https://e-clubhouse.org/sites/cayucos/.
