Los Osos Community Concert Comes Together

The first of the Unity In The Community Concert Series, September 3, was a hit! This series has the objective of bringing the community together for fun, listening to great music, and to raise funds for worthy local causes. Great food, lots of dancing, conversation, a raffle and an auction (still online) rounded out the afternoon.

The first concert raised funds for two non-profits, the South Bay Community Center and Celebrate Los Osos. The Community Center has a goal to become a true emergency response center (Los Osos does not have one).

A restorer of Los Osos community icons, Celebrate Los Osos, also maintains the landscaped median at the entrance to town. Two recent car accidents require costly repairs (any leftover funds will go to buying new chairs for the Red Barn, the new tables are already on their way).

Opening groove music was courtesy of Bay Love. Next Bobby Santa Cruz’s Superband (featuring Linda Martin from Back Bay Betty!) rocked the room. There was even a surprise song from Bobby’s daughter Rachel.

The series founding sponsors are Big, Big SLO, Rotary Club of Los Osos, People Helping People, Los Osos Baywood Park Chamber of Commerce, and Kiwanis of Estero Bay.

The physical auction items were on display, and the auction continues online at https://one.bidpal.net/celebrateunity/browse/all until noon, September 14. If you missed the concert, you can still bid.

The next events are on 10/1 and 11/5 – have a look at https://www.bigbigslo.com/unity.
