Contemporary photography and mixed media work from three artists is on view at Costa Gallery May 8 through June 28.
Lyn Caddas Matasci’s colorful photography series “Coastal Reverie” is her personal tribute to Los Osos and Morro Bay in close-ups and panoramic scenes. The former educator transitioned her creative outlet of teaching to photography when she moved to the Central Coast nine years ago.
“Largemouth Bassoon Off the Hook” is the focus of Larry Le Brane’s whimsical installation, “Gone Fishin’.” The five-foot long creature is his most ambitious creation to date. A donated and damaged bassoon was the catalyst for this assemblage that took Le Brane over a year to make. He included other imaginative materials such as LED lights, bike chains, vinyl tubing “bones” paper mâché, and a fused glass face.
“Nature’s Effervescence” is Michael J. Costa’s experimental macro photography series with extreme close-ups of small objects in nature. He froze items to set a mood of how he imagines, interprets, and visualizes fine art photography.
The public is invited to a free Artist Reception to celebrate these three artists on Saturday May 16, 2026, from 12 to 4 p.m. These fun “arty parties” have grown in popularity as a way for the community to gather in Costa Gallery’s eclectic art space.
Argentine singer Akusaa Powell will perform her soulful Latin fusion tunes at the reception, and there will be a few fishy surprises at the reception.
Explore these three exhibits in one location along with original work by 20 local artists. Guests will enjoy being able to quietly browse or select fine art and artful gifts to purchase in this quaint coastal town.
Visit the gallery at 2087 10th Street, Los Osos on Thursday through Saturday betweeb 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. or Sunday, 12p.m. to 4 p.m. (559)799-9632 for information.
