Central Coast Women for Fisheries (womenforfish.org) will me making and selling albacore enchiladas at the Morro Bay Community Center on Kennedy Way, Saturday, February 08. It’s the day before Super Bowl Sunday. Each tray is $15 and filled with prime albacore from a local fisherman, along with other ingredients to make a tasty enchilada. There’s a choice of corn tortillas with green sauce, or flour tortillas with red sauce. It’s our biggest annual fundraiser for community projects. Past ones have been the statue at Morro Rock and the recently installed signs on the waterfront about local fisheries. It’s best to pre-order because it’s possible to sell out before the event. Join the Lunar New Year Celebration – Welcoming in the Year of the Wood

Volumes of Pleasure bookshop staff will host – for the twentieth year
– a Chinese New Year celebration featuring the Cal Poly Lion Dance Team and Band performing the centuries-old Lion Dance ritual that will delight attendees and bless our community. This is the Year of the Wood Snake, which combines qualities of the snake, such as cunning, intelligence and deliberation, with the qualities of the wood
element, which includes flexibility, generosity, and cooperation. The Year of the Wood Snake encourages use to slow down, be methodical, and shed old habits yet also embrace the generosity and patience embodied by wood in order to attain the year’s opportunities for growth and insight.

City Farm SLO, 1221 Calle Joaquin, announced the launch of its new Community Farm Tours, a unique opportunity for the public to explore the farm, learn about sustainable agriculture, and connect with the land. These tours are offered on the first Saturday of every month and are open to all ages.
The Community Farm Tours operate on a pay-what-you-can basis, with a suggested donation of $20 per person. Proceeds from the tours support City Farm’s educational programs, including field trips for local students, workshops, and community events.
What to Expect:
• A guided walkthrough City Farm’s vibrant fields and gardens.
• Insights into sustainable farming techniques and the farm’s role in local food systems.
• Opportunities to interact with farm animals and taste fresh, seasonal produce.

The American Association of University Women, Morro Bay Branch welcomes The Bald Spots to their Saturday, February 8 meeting at 10 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, 545 Shasta, Morro Bay.
The Bald Spots have been entertaining local and international audiences for over 30 years with tight street corner harmonies, interesting musical commentary and questionable humor. They have performed on the streets of Venice, in a castle in Austria, the Czech Republic, Canada, Argentina, and in Uruguay, where they performed at the U.S. Ambassador’s annual Fourth of July party. The group includes, on bass
Craig Updegrove, baritones Mike Suddarth and Dale Wolff, and tenors Ty Green, Brian Lawler and Jeff Spevack. [NOTE: Ty Green will not be performing this day].

Morro Bay Art Association presents a free demo with Andrew Cook, North American Education Manager for Fabriano paper, Sennelier colors, Isabey brushes and several other art materials brands. It all takes place Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. at Art Center Morro Bay 835 Main St. Andrew will discuss the history and unique qualities of some of these brands’ most historic and exciting watercolor products. Tickets for the Live Oak Music Festival’s 37th annual event are on sale with discounted early bird pricing through March 15. The three-day, family-friendly festival takes place Friday through Sunday, June 13 to June 15. The festival is organized by and serves as one of the primary annual fundraisers for KCBX Public Radio. Full Festival tickets for adults, teens, and children include camping on the festival grounds at the scenic El Chorro Regional Park in San Luis Obispo. Single day tickets, RV reservations, and camp parking passes are also available.

A Full Festival ticket allows access to the festival on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with overnight camping throughout the park. Single-day tickets are also available for adults, teens (ages 13-17), and children (ages 4-12), and those under age four enter free of charge with an adult.
