Bring your clothing that needs mending and get tips about how to make it look beautiful. Rosalind will offer guidance and inspiration. Drop in and check it out. Adults.

• Poetry Night – Thursday, March 20, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The theme is “How the Universe Speaks to Us” with featured poets Christopher Buckley and Kevin Clark. Open mic follows presentation.

• Coding for Kids – Friday, March 21, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Hands on coding and circuitry fun for kids! Come tinker with Snap Circuits, Cubetto robots, and a Robot Mouse. For ages 3+.

• Teen Advisory Board – Saturday, March 22, 3 – 4 p.m.

Calling all teens! Looking for volunteer or community service hours? Help Librarian Emily run the Teen Advisory Board. Participation can be listed on job, scholarship and college applications.

Tickets are available for the 83rd annual Poly Royal Rodeo. The three-night general admission events begin Thursday, April 10, with the first Cal Poly Rodeo Showcase Performance and conclude Saturday, April 13, with the Poly Royal Rodeo Finals. In addition, a Cal Poly Rodeo Showcase and ASI-sponsored concert will be held exclusively for students on Wednesday, April 10. Concerts on Wednesday and Saturday night take place in the rodeo arena for attendees to dance and enjoy the music with more leg room.

New this year is an additional performance night, added to accommodate more attendees. Poly Royal will be held at the Cotton Rosser Rodeo Complex on campus during Cal Poly’s Open House, with four full nights of action-packed performances.

The Poly Royal Rodeo is the marquee event on campus during Cal Poly’s annual Open House. The event will feature the top collegiate rodeo athletes from around the West Coast who have advanced to the championship performance from the weekend’s earlier rounds. Athletes will compete for a championship title in events such as barrel racing, team roping, breakaway roping, tie down roping, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding and steer wrestling. 

Tickets are $50 for general admission and free for children 5 and under. Tickets are at ticketscalpoly.evenue.net/events/CPR. All proceeds from the event benefit the Cal Poly Rodeo Program.

The San Luis Obispo Blues Society present blues guitar great Coco Montoya in a dance concert on April 12, at the San Luis Obispo Vets Hall (801 Grand Avenue, San Luis Obispo). The Irene Cathaway Blues Band opens the show at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $36.12 via sloblues.org or $44.69 at the door the evening of the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Wine, beer, and snacks are available for purchase at the show.

Montoya admired blues drenched rock artists like Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, and Savoy Brown. But his real baptism into playing blues came while playing drums for Albert Collins. It was Collins who encouraged Montoya to switch to mainly playing guitar. They spent hours working together in motel rooms during their off-time touring. His ground-breaking electric blues have thrilled fans from coast-to-coast and around the world.

Downtown SLO’s annual spring Sip ‘n’ Saunter, presented by Rate, takes place on Sunday, May 4 from 1 to 4 p.m.. Local wineries, breweries, restaurants, and caterers from around the county will serve tastings and small bites at over 40 downtown retail locations. This is downtown San Luis Obispo’s largest annual tasting event, averaging 600 attendees in recent years. 

Attendees can “sip” and “saunter” their way through downtown San Luis Obispo’s beautiful tree-lined streets, sample the Central Coast’s finest food and drink, enjoy live music, and shop at participating retailers. 

After many requests for an extension of time at the event, Downtown SLO is offering a first-time VIP Early Access Ticket! Guests can enjoy an extra hour of the event from 12–1 p.m. at the Creamery Marketplace. VIP ticket-holders will enjoy early access to food and drink samples, live music, a digital photo booth, an open area to drink and mingle, and more! There are a limited number of VIP Early Access Tickets available. At 1 PM, all trail locations will be open for attendees to enjoy. 

Presale tickets are on sale until sold out. A limited number of presale tickets are available. Cost is $65 Presale and $75 General Sale. General Admission + VIP Early Access are $90 Presale and $100 General Sale. Ticketing fees apply to all tickets.

All tickets upon check-in include a commemorative Sip ‘n’ Saunter tasting cup, a printed map of all locations, a wristband granting full access to all retail locations, and a souvenir shopping tote bag. 

Tickets can be purchased at DowntownSLO.com/Sip. This event is for ages 21+ only, and a valid ID must be provided at check-in.

If you like jigsaw puzzles, the Morro Bay Odd Fellows has solutions for you. The Bay-Rock Lodge, I.O.O.F. is holding another “Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange” fundraiser set for 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 22 at the Odd Fellows Hall, 710 Harbor St., Morro Bay.

Cost is a $10 entry fee, and they will have over 100 puzzles of varying sizes and by various manufacturers to peruse. Bring your old puzzles and take home new puzzles to assemble while help the non-profit organization raise money for its many community programs.

Manufacturers include: Springbok, Ravensburger, Willow Creek and many more. Sizes range from 300 pieces to over 1,000.

Themes include holidays, animals, shaped puzzles, Americana, nostalgia and more.

Soprano and musicologist Patricia Caicedo present a Latin American and Iberian Art Song Master Class at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, in Room 218 of the Davidson Music Center (No. 45). Cal Poly voice students will sing and be coached by Caicedo. Free admission, parking permit required

Patricia Caicedo, a world-renowned expert in Latin American and Iberian Art songs, will coach three Cal Poly vocalists in Spanish art song.

Caicedo is a multifaceted artist-scholar. She has performed throughout the world and is founder and director of the Barcelona Festival of Song, which focuses on the study of the history and performance of Latin American and Iberian art song.

Her recordings are of art songs in Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese and indigenous languages, and most include works recorded for the first time, or works composed for her to premiere. Two of her albums are dedicated exclusively to the music of women composers.

Driven by her interest in technological innovation, Caicedo established Mundo Arts, a company that includes a music publishing house, a record label and an online store. She has spearheaded numerous international projects utilizing second-generation Internet, streaming and interactive technologies. She is also the creator of EYECatalunya, an interdisciplinary platform dedicated to promoting Catalan creators on the global stage. She holds a Ph.D. in musicology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Medical Doctor’s degree from the Escuela Colombiana de Medicina.

Morro Coat Audubon Society presents its March Zoom Community Program, “The Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery” on Monday, March 17 at 7 p.m. featuring Dr. David Johnson, California State Park Elephant Seal Docent. Virtual attendees will learn all about the elephant seals at Hearst San Simeon State Park. Discover the fascinating life cycle, adaptations, and natural history of these marine mammals and why they come to local beaches.

On Sunday, March 23rd, from 3 to 4 pm, the Morro Bay Shanty Project will perform sea shanties and other songs of the sea. Sun., March 23, 3-4 p.m. at the Dockside Too Restaurant, 1245 Embarcadero, Morro Bay.

Audience members will be encouraged to sing along and share favorites.
