Tiffany McClure, 47 of Tulare was reported missing July 22 and her body was found by the Coast Guard floating in the ocean off Morro Bay on Aug. 5.
The mystery surrounding a missing Tulare woman has been solved, but there is no happy ending to report.
Tiffany McClure, 47 of Tulare, Calif., was reported missing about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, according to news reports citing the Tulare Police Department. She was reportedly last seen the day before, July 22.
According to a Morro Bay Police Department news release, her white BMW was located by TPD investigators, parked near the Morro Strand State Park Campground and asked MBPD to conduct a welfare check. Officers located the car legally parked but didn’t find McClure, and none of the residents in the neighborhood who were contacted could shed any light on the missing woman.
TPD and family members traveled to Morro Bay on July 25 and the vehicle was processed for any possible clues to her whereabouts. None were found and the car was turned over to the family, according to MBPD, who posted about the missing woman on their Facebook Page.
Days later, at about 7:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, a full week after she was last seen, McClure’s body was discovered floating offshore by the Coast Guard.
MBPD, the Coast Guard, Harbor Patrol and the Sheriff’s Department worked together to recover her body and bring her to shore.
The SLO County Coroner’s Office confirmed the body was McClure on July 6. Both TPD and MBPD have investigated the circumstances surrounding McClure’s demise and found no indications of foul play. The Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death.
Friends and family of McClure have posted many tributes to her on social media, including one post from her stepmom, Julie Zollo Hadden: “With heavy heart… I was notified last night that my stepdaughter, Tiffany McClure, was located in the harbor at Morro Bay. (Drowning)
‘Tiffany was reported missing two weeks ago. This has been extremely hard for the family. Please pray for peace! I love this beautiful girl with all my heart.”
Her cousin, Kristin Collins, was quoted as saying McClure was separated from her husband and had become an empty nester after her daughter went away to college.
It was her daughter who reported her mother missing after she hadn’t heard from her in a few days.
