A Paso Robles man was convicted of multiple counts of child sex abuse involving two minor girls over several years and could face nearly 300 years in State Prison.
The District Attorney’s Office announced on July 17 that Teodulo Vasquezjimenez, 40 of Paso Robles was convicted on some 15-felony counts of sexually abusing two young girls from 2009-2023. His victims were 14 and younger at the time of the assaults.
After a weeklong trial, Vasquezjimenez was convicted of 14 counts of committing lewd acts on a child under-14 and one count of lewd acts on a child age 14.
“The jury also found that Vasquezjimenez committed these offenses against multiple young victims,” the news release said. “As a result of these findings, the defendant now faces significantly increased penalties under California law, including multiple life sentences in State Prison.”
The jury also found several aggravating factors in the case, in particular “that the defendant abused a position of trust and confidence to commit the offenses and that the victims were particularly vulnerable.”
Such a finding usually means the abuser is a relative of the victim, but the D.A. did not reveal that information. All of the crimes occurred in Paso Robles, and it was the Paso Robles Police Department that first investigated the case. The two victims testified about the years of repeated sexual abuse they endured.
“Cases like this,” the release said, “reveal the importance of supporting victims and holding offenders accountable through a justice process that prioritizes safety for the community, dignity for victims, fairness to all concerned, and a truthful outcome.”
His maximum sentence under the law could mean he never sees the light of day as a free man again.
“Vasquezjimenez faces a maximum sentence of 280 years to life in State Prison,” the release said. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 11 with Judge Rita Federman presiding.
Paso PD was lead on the investigation and was helped by the D.A.’s Bureau of Investigation. Prosecutor was Dep. D.A. Kristin Barnard of the Sex Crimes Unit. Victim services were provided by the Christopher G. Money Victim Witness Assistance Center, and Victim Advocates Aracely Maldonado and Tristan Milledge, and Witness Coordinator Kellie Navarro.
District Attorney Dan Dow said, “This verdict reflects the courage of the victims who came forward and the careful, thoughtful work of our criminal and victim justice system. We are deeply grateful to the jury for their time, attention, and commitment to evaluating difficult and disturbing evidence. Their service ensured accountability and helps bring a measure of justice to the victims in this case.”
The case shows what can happen when victims speak up. “The District Attorney’s Office encourages anyone who has been the victim of sexual abuse to seek help and know that they are not alone. Confidential support and advocacy services are available through the District Attorney’s Victim Witness Assistance Center and other community partners.”
Victims of sexual abuse are encouraged to report the abuse to their local police department or the County Sheriff’s Department so it can be investigated and ended. “Reporting can help protect others and connect victims with the support and resources they deserve.”
