Two men were injured during an apparent knife fight under a highway bridge in Morro Bay, police said.
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Main St., at 9:08 a.m. on Friday, June 28, according to a news release from Police Chief Amy Watkins. When they arrived at the Hwy 101 overpass they found one “involved party who was suffering from multiple stab wounds,” Chief Watkins’ release said. They found another injured man in a nearby parking lot.
“The second involved party was located in the Taco Bell parking lot with assistance from SLO Sheriff’s Office Deputies and California State Parks Officers [Park Rangers]. The subject was found to also have a stab wound. Both subjects were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.”
Investigators are still sorting out the bloody mess. “The investigation revealed both subjects injured were involved in an altercation with one another prior to the stabbing and were known to each other. Both involved parties are being treated for moderate injuries.”
The news release did not say whether charges are being filed against either man, however, the news release was headlined as an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon.”
Chief Watkins was asked if anyone was charged or if this was a case of “mutual combat?” and responded, “We are still actively investigating the incident. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.”
MBPD is asking for anyone who witnessed the fight or with information on what happened to call Sgt. Nicole Taylor at 805-772-6233 or Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP.
