Anti-offshore wind energy activists held a protest march against proposed wind farms being planned for and area off the Central Coast, raising concerns about the environmental impacts from what they call the “industrialization of the ocean.”

The REACT Alliance (see: www.reactalliance.org) hosted a “Save Our Seas Stop Offshore Wind/2024” gathering March 9, kicking off what promised to be an afternoon of music, food and learning about the issue with a sign-waving protest march down to the South T-pier. There a commercial fishing boat met them cruising back and forth in the bay, and flying a banner that read, “No Offshore Wind Farms.”

Some of the signs being waved decried the harm that will be done to sea life and seabirds by the wind turbines.
