Bettye Joy Landino, 82, of Los Osos, California passed away on June 27, 2026. Bettye was born on May 24, 1944 in Arkansas in a simple and rural community. She persevered and bettered herself and her surroundings, eventually coming to California and becoming a schoolteacher.
Bettye worked for many years in Atascadero and Los Osos schools, helping young people to grow and develop, primarily teaching 2nd grade. In 2006, Bettye retired from teaching and was able to travel the world with her husband Michael, visiting many destinations around the world such as Bhutan and New Zealand. They loved games and were avid mahjong and bridge players.
Bettye was a member of the Central Coast’s The 540 Bridge Club. Bettye is Survived by her husband Michael, her two adult children, three adult grandchildren and six great grandchildren, for whom Bettye was an influential part of each of their lives.
All who wish to take a moment to celebrate and remember Bettye are invited to meet at the Los Osos Monarch Butterfly Preserve on July 19, from 12 – 2 p.m. for an open remembrance.
