A special thank you to one of Morro Bay’s fine police officers. Today after waiting for a green light at Main and Quintana, I proceeded and almost immediately had a police car behind me with lights flashing. He pulled over a young man screaming down Main on a skateboard so fast I knew he hadn’t stopped at the light.
When I was a member of council, we drafted an ordinance that made it legal to skateboard on Morro Bay streets. The only provision was that boarders ride in the bike lanes and follow the same rules as bikes and cars. Reckless young men like this one today may not only hurt themselves but make it more difficult for law biding young people to skateboard on our streets.
