Rotary Drive-Thru BBQ

Members of the Rotary Club of Morro Bay, headed up by Mike Gerson, Dan Costley and John Solu, will fire up their BBQs on Wednesday, October 30, in support of the community. Take home a full-sized premium tri-tip roast along with ranch-style beans, garden salad with ranch dressing, hot sourdough garlic bread loaf and salsa. This is a complete meal that will serve six. 

Tickets must be purchased by October 28.  All proceeds go to the club’s “Help Us Help Others” Campaign which provides services to the community. Tickets are $65 and are available at morrobayrotary.org  Pick-up your meal from 5 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30 at Carla’s Country Kitchen at 213 Beach St. Morro Bay.

Cayucos Yoga to Celebrate One Year Anniversary

Celebrate Cayucos Yoga’s one year anniversary with special events on Saturday, November 2 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The studio will be open to the public to see the transformation of the Reís Family Mortuary to the yoga studio it is today. Tours will be available and the studio will be open for an ofrenda (memorial offering) to honor friends and family who have crossed over to their next journey, followed by a Savasana meditation. 

On Friday, November 1, meet their graphic artist, Bill Mulder, who will showcase watercolor landscapes at the studio from 4:30-6:30 p.m. More info at: www.billmuldergraphics.com.

Check the calendar at www.cayucosyoga.com for a full list of events starting on Halloween with Business Trick or Treat put on by the Cayucos Chamber of Commerce. It takes place from 3-4 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, and Cayucos Yoga will continue handing out treats from 3-6 p.m.

John Ramos to Open Gallery in Los Osos

Celebrated artist John Ramos will open his fourth gallery, the Costa Ramos Art Gallery, in November 2024. 

This new gallery marks a special return to the town of his first gallery in Los Osos, where his journey in the Central Coast art world began 40 years ago.

Previously all operated by John’s wife, Donna Ramos, the new gallery will be owned by their daughter, Elena Ramos Peffly alongside her husband, Brian Peffly. Together, they say are committed to “creating a vibrant space for contemporary art in the heart of Los Osos. The Costa Ramos Art Gallery will serve as a central hub for artistic expression, showcasing both the works of John Ramos and a diverse array of talented artists.”  

John and gallery owner Michael Costa, of Costa Gallery, will combine their expertise to introduce a contemporary gallery that they say willn invigorate the local art community.

“We are thrilled to be bringing this new gallery to life in a place that holds so much meaning for our family,” said Ramos Peffly. “This collaboration will honor our family’s legacy and create a welcoming space for artists and art lovers alike in Los Osos. Having Michael Costa on board is a perfect addition.”

A grand opening of the Costa Ramos Art Gallery featuring artwork from various artists and Ramos’ original paintings is planned to take place in Novemeber. The gallery aims to host exhibitions, workshops, and events to engage and inspire the local community.

Half-Off Pet Adoptions at Woods and County Animal Services

Woods Humane Society and the County of SLO Animal Services Division (ASD) are holding half-off pet adoption fees through Sunday, October 27. The joint adoption promotion comes as an early kick-off to Woods’ annual Wiggle Waggle Fall Festival, held at Woods Humane Society San Luis Obispo on October 26, from 12-3 p.m.

“Every year, we invite local pet owners and their leashed dogs to come together to celebrate the human-animal bond at a free community event and pet party that honors all of the ways pets enrich our lives,” says Woods Humane Society CEO Emily L’Heureux. “This year, in addition to the doggie costume contests, stuffed animal pull, pet fair vendors, and Santa Paws photos, we are so thrilled to offer half-off adoption fees for ten days to help more pets experience the joy of finding a loving home.”

ASD, located next door to Woods Humane Society SLO, will offer the same adoption promotion to help its animals find families in time for the fall festival, in which it will also participate with an informational booth.
