Kiwanis Award Scholarships

Continuing a long tradition of service to our communities the Kiwanis Club of Bay-Osos recently awarded of three $1,000 scholarships to deserving Class of 2020 Morro Bay High School Seniors.

Jenna Wheeler is the Julie Orr Memorial Community Service Scholarship recipient. Due to complications caused by the pandemic, she finds her academic schedule is in flux. She hopes to attend Cuesta and transfer to Westmont College in Santa Barbara.

Connor Bradley garnered the Don Cone Scouting Scholarship. As was the scholarship namesake, Connor is an Eagle Scout currently serving as an adult advisor for Scout Troop 214 and has been accepted at the California State Maritime Academy in Vallejo for enrollment this fall.

Budding filmmaker Justin Castillo took home the Arts Scholarship. Justin will seek a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in cinematography at California State University Long Beach.

“The Kiwanis club of Bay-Osos is proud to recognize these outstanding students and pleased to be able to offer a helping hand,” said Kiwanis Scholarship Chair Joe Asire.

During normal times Kiwanis meets at Jimmy Bump’s Pasta House in Los Osos at noon on Wednesdays, but currently, they are holding meetings online. For further information, contact the club through their Facebook page: “Kiwanis Club of Bay-Osos”.
