So, let’s talk a little about that dash between her birth and death dates; Now, if we were like the nation of Korea with their ancient wisdom, we would accurately include the almost year-long growth of each human that is lived in the womb.
This ancient wisdom came from observing what was already there (this simple method is the basis for science). I’m sure Pat wouldn’t mind this next part, because she had a very curious mind.

Fun Fact: Female babies have ALL of their eggs (ova) when they are in their mother’s womb. On average a biological female has upwards of four to seven million eggs during early growth while still in the womb. This will go down drastically by birth to about one to two million, with only about 500 of these eggs maturing to be ovulated throughout a woman’s reproductive life.
Then, each, in their turn, will take a trip down the Fallopian tube in preparation to continue the journey they were made for.
Unlike an Ovum, the little swimmers that may someday enter the scene are freshly made in the reservoirs of the potential father. If successful, those little fellas will contribute half the DNA and also the X or Y chromosomes to determine the sex of the fertilized egg.
The large, slow-moving ovum on the other hand will stand firm against this advancement, holding out for only one champion, and then no more… there will be a flash of light, and the DNA blueprint will be followed in rapid, seemingly miraculous succession like a flower unfolding.
This entire incredible process, fraught with barriers to prevent its successful beginning, began first with that humble ovum formed in the tiny delicate ovaries of a pre-born baby girl…
Which brings me back to Pat, that egg, that would eventually and successfully become this woman so many of us have known and loved, first began its journey in the ovary of Adelaide Hilgers in 1895; Pat’s life, starting with that tiny ovum, would touch three centuries – the 1800s, 1900s, and 2000s.
And Pat is just one example of the miracle that she and each one of us are. In the words of an ancient king, “We are fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Pat, or ‘Patsy’ as she was called growing up, leaves behind four of her seven children, David, Susie, Mary, Beth and their families, along with the families of her children who predeceased her. They, Kathy, George and Sharon, no doubt, formed a welcoming committee for her along with her Jesus, who after beginning to follow Him in the early 1970s, she loved most of all. There is so much more to learn and share about this very special woman, and we look forward to seeing you on August t.
