Botanical Garden Receives Grant

Rendering of the project
Rendering of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden project

The non-profit San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden was recently awarded a $147,000 grant from the Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust. The funds will be used to help complete three ADA compliant patios, an entrance plaza, and paths at the Garden’s Education Center. With the completion of this project, the Garden expects an increase in facility rentals, financial stability, visitors, and visitor experience. The first phase of this project begins in mid-September.

The Garden needs to raise $300,000 to complete the project. They are asking the community to support this project by purchasing commemorative donor tiles, which will be placed artistically in the newly enhanced areas.

Currently, the main entrance to the Botanical Garden is gravel and difficult for many to traverse.

The Garden needs to improve pathways to the gift shop, offices, rental facilities and restrooms to provide easier access for visitors. Donations of all amounts are appreciated.

To learn more about this project and giving opportunities, go to slobg.org/donate, email ruta@slobg.org or call (805) 541-1400 x 303.
