The North Coast has several special events to celebrate All Halloes Eve (Halloween), with almost everything being put on for free.

Morro Bay’s 10th Annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat is set for 2:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

The Halloween Parade starts at 2:30 at the intersection of Monterey and Morro Bay Blvd. A Halloween Fair with games and goodies will be set up on the Boulevard from Main Street. Pick up a map of Downtown businesses giving away treats at the City Rec Department booth. 

There will be a photo booth, face painting, the Haunted Trolley, and a performance by the White Caps Band. Everything is free.

Bring costumed trick-or-treaters of all ages and join the fun.

The party continues on Sunday, Oct. 27 with the 45th Annual Oktoberfest on Second Street in Baywood Park. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Oktoberfest starts at 9 a.m. with the Oktoberfest Fun Run and for non-runners, a pancake breakfast by the Kiwanis Club, and a car show, too.

Live music starts at 10 a.m. with the high school cheerleading squad performing on the Merrimaker Main Stage. Now this year is a “Meet the Brewers/Winemakers/ musicians at 11 a.m. There’s a costume contest from 1:30-2 p.m. for kids to adults and even pets, too. There will be lots of vendors and a beer gardens.

The Josh Rosenblum Band plays from 2-3:30 p.m. and Soul Kool plays from 4-5:30. 

Special this year is a dance concert at the 2nd Street South stage (at the Baywood Inn), featuring Ras Danny, a founder of the Trench Town Jamaica Reggae Society. Ras Danny plays from 9-11 a.m. 

Also, the strolling duo, Familiar Strangers will be playing along 2nd Street form 9-11 a.m.

And for those with creative imaginations, the 16th Annual Cambria Scarecrow Festival continues its month-long run through Oct. 31, with scarecrows of all sorts on display in both the East and West Villages.

Also, on Saturday, Oct. 26, is the Salute to Scarecrows Party, from 6-8 p.m. at Cambria Nursery and Florist, 2801 Eton Rd. There will be lots of great food from local restaurants Cambria Pines Lodge, Indigo Moon, Linn’s, Madeline’s, Moonstone Bar & Grill, Robin’s, San Simeon Bar & Grill and The Spot. Some nine wineries will be pouring and there will be live music fun prizes, costume contests all to support the Scarecrow Festival.

New this year, the Groggy Scallywag Coffee House, (571 Embarcadero, Morro Bay) will collaboration with Beach Burger for the much-anticipated Annual Witches and Warlocks Paddle on Saturday October 26. Join them for a day filled with fun, festive sips and treats, and community spirit. 

The day includes sample sips, ghoulish goodies, and a Scallywag swag drawing. Every purchase will receive a complimentary ticket for the drawing. A lunch special of sliders and fries for $8 available is only during the event. All ages are welcome and witch and warlock costumes are encouraged. Enjoy brews and burgers where kayaks, paddleboards and canoes are all part of the fun.
