Morro Bay Rotary Club is quack-quacking about its Third Annual Ducky Derby set for 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 in Morro Bay Harbor.

Rubber ducks are $10 each and the grand prize is $1,000 in cash; second place is $750; and third gets $500. The ducky races are followed by a family fun day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tidelands Park.

How it works is you pay $10 to have a duck assigned to you and on race day, all the ducks will be dumped into the bay on an incoming tide starting at the Hofbrau.

The Morro Bay Dragon Boat team will monitor the ducks as they get swept along in the current and will make sure none go too far astray.

The first duck to “swim” past the finish line wins.

Go to: morrobayrotary.org for information on how to sponsor a duck. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Club’s community programs.
