What do a Sunset Magazine pastry chef, an iconic Los Osos photo and Toptracer data have in common?
To raise funds to pay for damages to the Los Osos Valley Road median caused by a single-car accident, Celebrate Los Osos is teaming up with the South Bay Community Center and Paul Irving of Big Big SLO to put on the first of a series of three events called “Unity in the Community.” The first show takes place Sunday, September 3 from 2 to 6 p.m. The concert lineup is the Bobby Santa Cruz Band featuring Linda Martin of Back Bay Betty with the opening set of Bay Love. There will be dancing, BBQ, wine, beer and non-alcoholic refreshments.
There will also be a fundraising auction of uncommon items, hence the three people walk into a bat intro above.
Some Auction Items
The former pastry chef from Sunset Magazine and new Los Osos resident, Maryanne Welton, will teach four people in her waterfront home how to make savory and sweet pie crusts from scratch. She will reveal the secret techniques for a perfect (and easy) crust to tackle any type of pie.

For the true golf geek, Diary Creek Golf Course provides a package of golf goodies including rounds of at Diary Creek and Morro Bay Golf Course; and passes for Toptracer, a digital technology that takes golf to a new level of fun and excitement. Using the same dynamic technology seen on PGA broadcasts Toptracer computers transform the old “driving range” experience using launch, speed, curve and other data analysis — all delivered in real time as you hit your ball out onto the live range. Players can partake in famous virtual golf courses and other fun games, getting instant feedback with each shot while competing against friends in person as well as players around the world online.
Aside from the entertainment aspect, the attraction offers a lot of information that can help golfers improve their game,” Josh Heptig, director of golf operations for SLO County Parks and Recreation.
