Alexis Alejandro, 25, a student resident advisor with University Housing at Cal Poly has been arrested and charged with allegedly breaking into a co-ed’s room with the intent to commit rape.

A 25-year-old Cal Poly student official has been charged with suspicion of burglary and attempted rape after he allegedly snuck into a co-ed’s room with nefarious intentions.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, on Sept. 7 the suspect, a resident advisor, allegedly snuck into the room of a female student in the Poly Canyon Village housing facility while she was asleep.

He allegedly tried to subdue her but she fought back and the suspect fled.

Nearly two weeks later on Sept. 20, Campus Police arrested the suspect, identified as Alexis Alejandro, 25, and last week he was charged with suspicion of “assault to commit a felony during the commission of a first-degree residential burglary; assault with intent to commit rape, sodomy, or oral copulation; and first-degree residential burglary while a person was present. These are ‘strike’ offenses under California’s Three Strikes Law,” the D.A.’s Office said in a news release.

Alejandro’s bail was set at $200,000, and he was still in custody at County Jail as of Oct. 6. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 9 in Judge Timothy Covello’s courtroom.

This case is being prosecuted by Dep. D.A. Kristin Barnard of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Prosecution Unit and investigated by the Cal Poly Police, the SLO County Sheriff’s Office, and the D.A.’s Bureau of Investigation.
