A Morro Bay High School art student recently took home an award from a San Luis Obispo Museum of Art competition, one of over a dozen MBHS students who had artworks selected for the exhibit.

Nel Aldea took Second Runner-Up in the SLOMOA’s “Me is We” self-portrait competition. Judges were Peter Hannan of Nickelodeon’s “CatDog” cartoon series, and “We is Me” founder, Jeff Bacon.

Aldea received a scholarship and so did MBHS. There were 13 other MBHS students whose works were selected for the exhibit, slated to run through March 29 at the museum, 1010 Broad St., in Mission Plaza, SLO.

The students were: Alyssa Myers, Delcie Martin, Sophie Green, Kai Bascko, Destiny Wilson, Coral Balent, Justin Castillo, Faye Vavra, Sara Weston, Sierra Redman, Lily Apodaca, Grace Hanson, and Madeline Chaney.

To see the artworks online, perhaps most convenient with the Wuhan corona virus closures, go to: www.bobcanepaphotography.com/ME-is-WE-362020.
