The City of Morro Bay hosted a town parade on Saturday, Sept. 7 on Morro Bay Boulevard down the hill to the Embarcadero to mark the 60th Anniversary of the town’s incorporation (officially July 17, 1964). Over a dozen entries took part in the parade representing Morro Bay High School, Del Mar Elementary, Project Surf Camp, city departments — fire, police, harbor, sanitation, public works, and current and former council members and mayors — as well as several local business families, community organizations and more. The parade was followed by a Family Picnic and Fun Day at Tidelands Park and culminating a 3-day celebration that started Thursday with the season’s first Tunes at Tidelands free concert. The parade follows a similar that was held in July 2014 to mark the town’s 50th Anniversary.
