Cuesta Ridge plays The Olde Alehouse

Cuesta Ridge
Cuesta Ridge will play at The Olde Alehouse.

The newest live music hot spot in Los Osos is The Olde Alehouse, located right in the heart of town next to the Rexall and across the street from Sweet Springs Saloon. They’ve got a nice, open air patio, live music stage, great food and drink, and a super fun vibe. And – they’ve been attracting some of the Central Coast’s best local live music. This weekend is no exception, with two great shows: Friday evening is the CD release party for Next Life, playing original classic rock / indie music from their new self titled EP. This group is Mark Ruffing on vocals and guitar, Antwon Byrd on bass, Christian Kennedy on drums, and Len Oesterling on guitar and keys. This show runs from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Then on Saturday, you’ll want to come back for more with an epic afternoon show with local Americana legends Cuesta Ridge. If you missed their season opener concert at Sea Pines (or even if you did!), you won’t want to miss out on the fun these guys serve up. This all star lineup includes Pat Pearson on guitar and vocals, Toan Chau on guitar, Dan Keller on mandolin, Dylan Johnson on bass, and Brent Vander Weide on drums. The show starts at 2 p.m.and goes until 5 p.m. Details are at bigbigslo.com

Tipsy Gypsies return to Concerts in the Plaza

TipsyGypsies
Concerts in the Plaza will feature Tipsy Gypsies on September 3.

San Luis Obispo’s best Friday evening party is alive and well, and their September 3 show will feature award winning Tipsy Gypsies! They describe their sound like this: They blend their influences into an intoxicating elixir of musical mixology. If you listen closely one could find hints of swing and Gypsy Jazz on the nose, and yet the body embraces more of an R&B and Motown richness. Surprisingly, the finish exudes clear overtones of pop and rock. Currently featuring musicians Hilary Langdon on vocals, Forrestt Williams on guitar, Brian Lanzone on bass, Laura Foxx on saxophone and clarinet, Reese Galido on vocals and Daryl VanDruff on drums, the Tipsy Gypsies have been mixing these drinks for over ten years now. Although they haven’t billed this as their CD release party, this will be the first opportunity for us to hear selections from their latest recording “TEN” in a live setting. Don’t miss this one! Concerts in the Plaza run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Friday at Mission Plaza. They’re free and family friendly. More info at downtownslo.com.
