Mary Perry (Jorge) Garcia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the age of 92. She was born in 1930 in Los Osos, California and was the youngest of four children born to Portuguese immigrants Frank and Anna Jorge. She graduated from San Luis High School in 1948. In 1950 she married the love of her life Domingos Garcia Sr. They were married for over 66 years until Domingos’s passing in 2017. They raised four children together teaching them that a work ethic and doing the right thing will afford you so much in life.

Mary was an integral part of their farming and ranching business. She was extremely talented, an incredible cook, enjoyed canning and baking. She also enjoyed redecorating the house, gardening and working on garage sales with friends. She loved a good deal, antiques and her many collections of salt dips and spoons. She was a classy dresser and had an eye for jewelry that made a statement. She had a great sense of humor and could be a bit of a jokester. She never missed a good party. She enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling, dancing, playing cards and bunco. She was a member of the Cayucos IDES, Edna Portuguese Holy Spirt Society, Native Daughters of the Golden West and SLO County Farm Bureau Women.

Mary is survived by her children: Bernadette (Ed) Crye, Domingos (Cathy) Garcia, Debbie Deis and Cindy Garcia; grandchildren: Cara and David Crye, Ben (Valrie) Eisele, Joe (Nicole) Garcia and Jenna (Charlie) Tognazzini; great-grandchildren: Ellyn and Marie Eisele, James Crye, Leo Tognazzini and Natalie Garcia. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Domingos Garcia Sr. and her granddaughter Anna Deis.

We would like to thank all the caregivers that helped Mary stay at home as long as she could.  We are also grateful to Randy and Marylou Ubay, Kathy and Hannah at Los Osos Residential Care for taking wonderful care of Mary during the final stage of her life.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Friday, August 19. The graveside service is at 11 a.m. at the Cayucos Morro Bay Cemetery. A reception will follow in the hall at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Morro Bay.
