The Festival of Flavor hosted by the Los Osos / Baywood Park Chamber has been a community favorite for years! This year, they faced unprecedented events due to the COVID-19 pandemic and came together to reimagine the two-night event.
While local restaurants were either closed or forced to do only take-out the chamber created the Festival of Flavor Reimagined. It was restructured as a take-out/pick-up event where each ticket holder could visit the nine participating restaurants to pick up two delicious samples at each location.
“When we reimagined our Festival of Flavor event, we wanted to bring attention to our local restaurants in the community,” said Jim Stanfill, chamber board of directors. “Our restaurants were eager to participate in the event and gain exposure as they began business operations again.”
Participating restaurants from Los Osos and Morro Bay included: Beach Hut Deli, Central Coast Pizza, Los Osos Mexican Market, Kuma, Jimmy Bumps Pasta House, The Clubhouse Grill (Sea Pines), Nardonne’s Pizzeria, Blue Sky Bistro, and Dutchman’s Seafood House.
“OMG, we are stuffed,” said attendee Lara Kimm on social media. “All the restaurants threw together some delicious food. Great reimagined event! Thanks Everyone!”
Another anonymous ticket holder likened the Festival to Halloween trick or treating, going from place to place.
Congratulations are in order for First Place Award winner Beach Hut Deli, who captured 30% of the possible points. Second Place went to Kuma, with 24% of the points. In Third Place, with 15% of the possible points, was the Dutchman’s Seafood House.
Others that received first place votes were Central Coast Pizza, Nardonne’s and Los Osos Mexican Market, Officials said. Every participating restaurant received some votes for the awards.
